The one on the left is from a Lyman Ideal mould # 452460, 4 cavity. It is a pretty old mould. The one on the right is an RCBS. My bullets on the left weigh 224 gr. as pictured with #2 alloy. I have questions as to if Lyman changed this bullet design somewhat because it should be 200 gr. Also my mould may be mismarked.

I finally got my comparator and OAL length gauge in and did some measuring on my rifle using 140gr ELD Match. Base to Ogive (touching lands) = 1.9835" (COAL = 2.5985") Backing off 0.020".. Nosler Trophy Grade with 190gr ABLR at 3.34" OAL gave the best groups. Since the Ruger magazine is designed for SAAMI OAL, 3.34" is the practical limit on reloads for this rifle anyway. Although accurate, I didn't like the bullet performance on elk so haven't used ABLR in reloads. 1.

I have a Savage 10FLCP-K chambered in .308 with a 1 in 10 twist. I'm trying to determine OAL using a marker and coloring the bullet. I have a fired, unsized case trimmed to 2.005. When I chamber a round in the case (either a hornady A-max or nosler Accu-Bond) the OAL I get is in the 2.88-2.91 range. Way over the SAAMI max of 2.81.
