On a different combine, a TX66 NH that had the stock chaff spreader, it was totally useless. It drove off the straw walker crank shaft so only turned about 160 rpm. Couldn't spread as wide as the rear wheels. We redesigned the spinners and the shrouding around the spinners to create a "fan with pressure and a cutoff point".
STRAW & CHAFF SPREADERS
The speed of the spreader is controlled by the oil flow to the orbit motor. The more oil the orbit motor receives, the faster the spreader will turn. A standard pump, supplied by Dutch Industries in a pump kit, puts out approximately 10 gpm of oil flow; this translates into a spreader speed of approximately 400 rpm.

Want to be able to spread straw 25' wide off the straw chopper. What suggestions can you give. The combine has a straw chopper. Are there different pulleys or spreader veins than what come standard out of the factory? Also how do you get the JD chaff spreader to spread 25'? Thanks!

I would recommend the hydraulic driven spreader and also a chaff spreader. They usually spread chaff just fine with the air blast, but in really heavy chaff conditions I think a hydraulic spread would do better.

I think your best bet would be to just buy a chaff spreader. Most of them are similar with one or two spinners driven by a hydraulic motor and powered by the reel drive circuit.
