Model 8 peep sight issue. by mart » Sun Dec 17, 2017 10:01 pm. I have a Model 8 in 25 Remington with the Lyman 1 A AT receiver sight. The issue I have is it is no windage adjustable and to get zeroed requires me to drift the front sight nearly out of its slot. Any thoughts on how to manipulate the rear sight to bring the rifle to zero.

June 24, 2022 By Jeff John. Strikingly futuristic-looking even today, the Remington Model 8 must have come as a shock to sportsmen of the early 20th century who had long gone afield comfortably armed with a lever-action or single-shot rifle. Some still used muzzleloaders, and the bolt action was having trouble making inroads.

Named the Woodsmaster (a moniker that would also be given to Remington's follow-on Model 740 and 740A autoloaders), like the Model 8 the 81 came in different grades: the 81A Standard with a plain stock and fore-end; 81B Special with checkered select wood; 81D Peerless sporting a bit of scroll engraving and fancier checkering; 81E Expert …
The 25Rem in the Model 81 was not listed as a production caliber, probably since sales of the 25Rem in the Model 8 were pretty dismal already. I believe, however, there is a pre-production announcement of the 81 in Henwood's book which lists the 25Rem. Anyways, the assumption is that Remington made a limited number of 81's in 25Rem, …
Regarding to what was posted earlier, the Model 81 isn't a cheaper Model 8. In 1936 Remington wanted to 'modernize' the Model 8, so they gave the stock a pistol grip and did a few things back and forth with the forearm. Basically the 81 is nothing but a 8 with a pistol grip stock, which actually makes for a stronger stock.
The Remington Model 8 was one of the first successful self-loading rifles introduced to the commercial market, and it was designed by none other than John Browning. It was an expensive rifle, but popular for its power and reliability. In the 1920s, an entrepreneur founded the Peace Officer Equipment Company to sell police gear in St …

In 1940, .300 Savage was added to the lineup to make the 81 more competitive and give it "close to .30-06" performance. Named the Woodsmaster (a moniker that would also be given to Remington's follow-on Model 740 and 740A autoloaders), like the Model 8 the 81 came in different grades: the 81A Standard with a plain stock and fore-end; 81B Special …

They are Remington Model 8's & 81's converted to accept the POE magazine. There are no patent infringement on the magazines or the rifles. The conversions were done by a competent individual who has the innate ability to visualize what must be done to make a rifle work differently than it's original issue and design.

Around a month ago I cast up some 150 grain 30 caliber bullets that are mostly used in the 30/30 Winchester that are reputed to have good accuracy and function in the Remington 8/81 rifle, need to size em up yet, then reload.
